Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has pledged to provide a modern Zonal Hospital for the people of Etche before the end of his administration, reaffirming his commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery across the state.

Governor Fubara made the commitment while speaking during the inauguration of the 12.3-kilometre Egwi-Afara-Mba Road in Etche, where he assured residents that healthcare remained a priority of his administration.

The Governor said his administration would not compromise on the provision of quality healthcare, despite the limited time remaining in its tenure. He specifically assured the people of Etche that the existing Etche Zonal Hospital would be rehabilitated and reconstructed into a modern medical facility capable of providing quality healthcare services to residents of the area and neighbouring Omuma Local Government Area.

Governor Fubara also formally inaugurated the Egwi-Afara-Mba Road, which he said was flagged off in December 2024 and completed despite the various challenges encountered by his administration.

Describing the road as a lasting legacy of his administration in Etche, the Governor expressed gratitude to God for making its completion possible.

He also thanked the people of Etche for their support, warm reception and peaceful disposition towards his administration, urging them to sustain the culture of peace and lawfulness.

According to him, meaningful development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace, urging the people to continue to work together to protect the peace necessary for sustained growth and development in the area.

The inauguration marked a significant milestone for the people of Etche, with the newly completed road expected to improve connectivity and facilitate movement within the area.

Beyond the road project, the Governor’s pledge to reconstruct and modernise the Etche Zonal Hospital is expected to further strengthen healthcare access for residents of Etche and surrounding communities.

For the people of Etche, the occasion represented more than the commissioning of a major infrastructure project. It renewed expectations of improved healthcare, enhanced connectivity and sustained development for the Etche ethnic nationality.
