The Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria, an agency of the Federal Government, has arrested some fake radiographers and also sealed the X-ray units of the  affected hospitals.
A statement issued in Abuja on Friday by the agency’s spokesperson, Maimuna Wakawa, on behalf of the registrar and chief executive of the board, Mr. Michael Okpaleke, Â revealed that the agency clamped down on the hospitals in order to eliminate quacks and quackery from the profession.
Some of the affected hospital that were sealed in Owerri,  the Imo state capital include  the Holy Rosary Hospital, Amanda Hospital, O/C Medical and X-ray Services,  Christina Hospital; and Mothercare Diagnostic Centre.
Okpaleke said that the RRBN would not stop at sealing any poorly-equipped X-ray units in  hospitals and  warned patients about the risk of having cancer when unqualified radiographers are patronised.
He further disclosed that the suspects would be prosecuted.
