Insecurity: Four Council Chairmen declare war against bandits along Emohua-Kalabari road

Embarrassed by the incessant kidnappings along Emohua-Kalabari Road, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP. Muhammad Shehu on the invitation of the Council Chairmen of ASALGA, DELGA, AKULGA and EMOHUA, Monday, stormed the area in a show of strength to reassure residents of the readiness of the security agencies to continue to protect their lives and property.

The convoy of the DCP in charge of Operations included one Armoured Personnel Carrier and about 15 patrol vans, loaded with heavily armed men and officers of the Nigerian Police Force.

The exercise was designed to identify flash points and routes of getaways within the tracks of the Emohua-Kalabari Road.

Speaking with newsmen at the end of the exercise, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), DCP Muhammad Shehu, said the joint exercise with the four Local Government Chairmen was to access the area and identify those routes of escape, adding that adequate deployment will be made to curb the incessant kidnappings along the road, going forward.

On his part, Chairman of Emohua LGA, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, said “We are going to synergize to ensure that the embarrassment on this road stops.

“You’ll recall that my colleagues and I had an arrangement in place already which the four of us had put together.

“But in the immediate, we’ll start with the low hanging fruits, which is to clear the shoulders of this road, then simultaneously we’ll build bits for the police men to occupy the area in order to give our citizens the confidence to continue to use this road.

“We’ll not allow any of what is happening to happen again. We’ve identified the getaways they use when they do their operation.
