A Federal High court sitting in Port Harcourt has granted the request made by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to join other candidates of Accord in the suit seeking to disqualify sixteen National Assembly candidates of the Party in Rivers State.
In his ruling, Justice Stephen Daylop-Pam, ordered that the new set of National Assembly candidates should be added to the suit by the PDP.
The PDP had earlier dragged Accord and its sixteen National Assembly candidates in Rivers State over alleged non-compliance to the new electoral act.
The application to strike out the name of Accord Party in the suit was rejected by the Judge. The refusal of Justice Daylop-Pam to grant the application made by the Counsel of Accord Party was made because he said there is no party known as The Accord Party.
The case was adjourned to 18th of October, 2022 for definite hearing of the suit.
Reacting to the development, Counsel to Accord, Abdulhameed Mohammed, told Newsmen outside the Courtroom, that he would study the ruling and advice his client accordingly.
On his part, Governorship candidate of Accord, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs said the party will appeal the ruling of the Court.
