Management of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital says it will conduct a mass burial for hundreds of abandoned corpses in the institution’s mortuary.
The chief medical director of UPTH, Prof. Henry Ugboma said this while speaking to journalists. He said there are over 700 unclaimed corpses at the UPTH mortuary.
”First of all, we have concluded all the announcements, written to all the relevant authorities concerning that. A lot of persons have come for their corpses. Because of the rains, we have not been able to conduct the mass burial. Once the rains stop and the grass dries up, we will, because they are many. I could say over 700 corpses”, Prof. Henry said.
