Buhari to confer infrastructure award on Wike

The Federal Government has nominated the Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike to receive the “Distinguished Award in Infrastructure Delivery” at the forthcoming Nigeria Excellence in Public Service Award.

President Muhammadu Buhari will on October 21, present the award to the Governor at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, said in a letter.

The letter addressed to Wike, was signed by the Permanent Secretary (General Services) in the SGF’s Office, Dr. Nnamdi Maurice Mbaeri.

Wike who was sworn in as Governor on May 29, 2015, has ensured the transformation of the landscape of the State through the provision of people orientated projects across communities in the 23 Local Government Areas of the State.

Apart from road construction and urban renewal, Wike has transformed State owned health facilities into medical masterpieces.

His giant strides in road construction and rehabilitation; the construction of an unprecedented 12 flyovers in the state, healthcare infrastructure; education, health, sports, and agriculture, among others, led many to give him the ‘Mr. Projects’ title.

The Governor who has turned the State into a huge construction site, has several ongoing projects across communities that he has vowed to complete before leaving office in 2023.
