Condemnations have poured in, following the abduction of the King of Ikuru town in Andoni Local Government Area, Rivers State, HRM King Aaron Ikuru and a lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt, Dr Jones Ayuwo, by gunmen at various locations in the state, on Sunday, February 21.
The motive behind the kidnap of these great Andoni sons is now a source of concern to many, including the Ijaw Youth Council. This position was contained in a statement signed by the Information officer of the Ijaw Youth Council Abuja chapter, Comrade Engr Gifted Ibiambo.
The statement sent to Africa Update on February 23, reads: The office of the information officer of the Ijaw Youth Council Abuja chapter condemns in its entirety the recent kidnap of the Chairman of the Andoni Traditional Rulers Council who doubles as the Paramount Ruler of Ikuru town HRM King Aaron Ikuru and a seasoned Obolo academician Dr Jones Ayuwo a lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt respectfully in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State on Sunday February 21, 2021.
The Mouthpiece of Ijaw Youth Council Abuja chapter Comrade Engr Gifted Ibiambo reacting to this ugly and barbaric incident called on Government and Security Agencies to swing into action to ensure the release of these great personalities. He called on the perpetrators of this wicked and evil act to release them immediately, unconditionally and unhurt.
He further called on the Youths of the area to shun all forms of evil vises and engage in meaningful activities that will bring about development and lasting peace in Andoni Local Government Area. I He sympathized with the families, and encouraged them to be steadfast in prayers that God will bring back the respected Monarch and Lecturer in good health. .
