After several years at the Court, A former Vice Chancellor of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, now known as Rivers State University, Professor Barineme Fakae haha finally received justice. A National Industrial Court in Port Harcourt has ordered the Rivers State University to pay Professor Fakae his seven years’ salaries and entitlements withheld by the institution.
Delivering judgement, Justice P. I. Hamman, said Prof Fakae should be given all his benefits and/or other privileges accrued to him as an employee who was given a letter of Offer of Appointment dated May 16, 2014. Stating further that his employment with the institution is still valid.
Recall that Professor Fakae had approached the court after he was denied his salary from 2015 following a claim by the institution’s Governing Council that his transfer of service was irregular.
