A statement from the office of the special assistant to Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike on electronic media, Simeon Nwakaudu, said the commissioner of works, Bethel Harrison, has been sacked with immediate effect.
The government did not give any reason for the sack, but the statement directed Harrison to hand over to the permanent secretary in the ministry of works.
Recall that about one year and two months ago, Wike had sacked Kevin Wachukwu and appointed Harrison as commissioner for works.
In that instance, Wike had accused Wachukwu of being unable to cope with the pace of work in the ministry, despite his intelligence and charged Harrison to take his work serious, saying “There should be no compromise”.
“The day you misinform me on the status of projects, will be the day you will be sacked. The day you begin to use your office to form rings will be the day you will lose out”, Wike warned.
Political analysts are however, awaiting the full disclosure behind the sudden sack.
