The brewing storm over the kingship of Abonnema, in Akuku Toru Local Government Area, may have been laid to rest, by the Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike.
Playing host to the embattled Amayanabo of Abonnema, King Disreal Bob-mauel, Wike said the Monarch remains the recognised first class traditionnal ruler of Abonnema .
He advised officers of the Nigerian Army to restrict themselves to the core mandate of protecting the territorial integrity of the state rather than geting involved in chieftaincy matters.
“We are not talking about politics here. Now the army is involved in chieftaincy ” he stated.
He charged the youths in the area to resist any form of attack on them by the military.
King Bob-manuel, Â who was at the Government House to brief the Governor about the invasion of his community by the military over the weekend, commended him for the construction of ring roads within the community and other projects.
