To commemorate the World Peace Day, 2021, seventeen Rotary Clubs in collaboration with Peace Corps of Nigeria, took to the streets yesterday, September 20th, to reiterate the need for sustained peace as a means to foster development in communities.
The peace / sensitization walk was done to kickstart activities for the two-day program, with the theme: Recovering better for an equitable and sustained World.
Speaking to Africa Update, the Coordinator of the Rotary clubs that took part in the Peace Walk/Sensitization, Rtn Precious Werner Ovie-Oyubu, who is also the President of Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Garden City, said the climax of the Walk will be the Peace Seminar scheduled to hold today, September 21, at Bon Hotels along Stadium Road, in Rivers State.
On his part, Michael Obiora, the State Commandant of Peace corps of Nigeria, Rivers State Command, urged Rivers people to shun acts of violence and embrace peace. Noting that peace is priceless and should begin with everyone, irrespective of race, status or religion.
