“In anger, I contacted Daniel. I don’t know the others. It was Daniel, who contacted Justice. “I did not join them in the operation, I only monitored my former boss’ movement.
“I got N1 million from the ransom. I used the money to start developing a plot of land at Okrika.”
On his part, 22-year-old Timothy, admitted to be the gang’s leader, adding that they had to fire at occupants of the vehicle that was chasing them, for alerting people. Information revealed that Chief Adoki was released on January 4, 2018 from the creeks of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, 21 days after his abduction after a ransom payment of N9 million.
Africa update gathered that Chief Adoki, 61 year-old, was whisked away from his office at 129 Victoria Street, in the company of his driver and an unidentified man, as they were about driving out of his premises on December 15, 2017.
Our source revealed that the kidnappers had shot sporadically before dragging their target out of his vehicle and bundled him into their operational vehicle before driving towards the creeks.
It was reported that in an act of bravery, a petty trader, Abdullai Maikano, who sold provision in a kiosk in front of the abducted man’s house, entered the victim’s car as the driver drove after the kidnappers.
However, on reaching the creeks, the kidnappers brought out Adoki from their vehicle and were heading towards a waiting speed boat, when the victim’s driver drove in. They were said to have opened fire on the occupants of the vehicle in the process, Maikano’s body was riddled with bullets and he died on the spot.
The assailants escaped with their target, while the victim’s driver and an unidentified occupant took Maikano’s corpse to the Police, where the abduction was reported.
