Abuja, FCT – The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has approved a crucial extension of the grace period for the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit requirement until August 12, 2025. This decision, announced in a statement by Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, directly addresses public concerns surrounding the reactivation of the digital application process for the permit.
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) stated that this extension is a direct response to citizen feedback, underscoring its commitment to fostering a transparent, inclusive, and citizen-friendly policing system.
“The extension is part of a broader effort to ensure that the digital permit process is accessible, secure, and user-friendly for all Nigerians,” the statement clarified. “This move reflects the IGP’s resolve to listen to the voices of Nigerians and to ensure that no citizen is unfairly affected by the ongoing reforms. The period will also be used to further enhance and fine-tune the application process.”
The Police further revealed that concerted efforts are underway to simplify both physical and contactless application options for the permit. These improvements include enhanced verification mechanisms and streamlined procedures, specifically designed to reduce processing delays and eliminate unnecessary bottlenecks that applicants might encounter.
The public is reminded that www.possap.gov.ng remains the sole authorized platform for both the application and renewal of the Tinted Glass Permit.
In a bid to ensure accountability and prevent illicit practices, the NPF urged citizens to promptly report any incidents of extortion or unauthorized charges experienced during the application or biometric capturing process. Such complaints can be lodged through the dedicated hotline: 09169967000.
The NPF reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to public safety, digital innovation, and the continuous improvement of service delivery. The Force also expressed appreciation for the patience and cooperation of the Nigerian public as these essential reforms are implemented.
