Spider-Man: Brand New Day has surpassed the $2 billion mark at the global box office, becoming the highest-grossing film in the Spider-Man franchise after just three weekends in cinemas.
The Tom Holland-led blockbuster has grossed approximately $2.022 billion worldwide, comprising about $785.8 million from the domestic market and more than $1.2 billion internationally.
The remarkable performance has seen Brand New Day overtake Spider-Man: No Way Home, which previously held the franchise record with a worldwide haul of approximately $1.92 billion.
The latest milestone was achieved just 21 days after the film’s theatrical release, making it the second-fastest film in cinema history to cross the $2 billion threshold.
Only Avengers: Endgame reached the landmark more quickly, achieving the feat within 11 days of its release.
With its latest achievement, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has become only the eighth film in history to surpass $2 billion worldwide, placing it among the most commercially successful blockbusters ever made.
The film enjoyed a spectacular opening, generating approximately $927 million globally during its first weekend before crossing the $1 billion mark just six days after its release.
Its third weekend added a further $70 million domestically, taking its North American total to approximately $785.8 million.
Beyond breaking records within the Spider-Man franchise, Brand New Day has also become Sony Pictures’ highest-grossing film, surpassing the studio’s previous box-office benchmarks.
The film’s extraordinary commercial performance further cements its status as one of the decade’s biggest comic-book movies, underscoring the enduring global appeal of the Spider-Man character and the enormous audience following enjoyed by Holland’s portrayal of the superhero.
For Holland, the record-breaking performance further strengthens his reputation as one of Hollywood’s most commercially successful contemporary superhero stars.
With Spider-Man: Brand New Day continuing its theatrical run in markets around the world, its strong momentum could see the blockbuster achieve even greater box-office milestones before its cinema run concludes.
