An elder statesman, His Highness, Anabs Sara-Igbe, has faulted the declaration of Nyesom Wike, Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, winner of the botched March 9, 2019 Governorship and State House of Assembly election in Rivers State.
In an exclusive chat with Africa Update, Sara Igbe, described the declaration as ‘a daylight robbery and monumental fraud.’
He said necessary actions would be taken to challenge the declaration made by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Recall that in recent weeks, the media has been awash with stories about an alleged alliance between the Resident Electoral Commissioner, in charge of INEC in Rivers State, Obo Effanga and Nyesom Wike, the State Governor, to compromise the electoral process in favour of PDP candidates.
These allegations led to series of protests calling for the cancellation of the March 9, elections, which according to opposition political parties was plagued with bias and fraud.
There were also allegations of INEC Adhoc staff being members of PDP, which eventually led to the dismissal of some of such affected Adhoc staff. This action by INEC, further aggravated the call for the cancellation of the election which was abruptly suspended by INEC on March 10, 2019.
