The Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has reiterated his commitment to remain intentional to improve the operations of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the State.
He stated this today at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam in Tai Local Government Area, during the swearing in ceremony of 2024 Batch C Stream II Corps Members deployed to Rivers State.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government and Chairman NYSC State Governing Board, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, the Governor commended the management of the Scheme for its initiatives with funding agencies to empower Corps Members to become self reliant citizens through its credit facilities to startup their own businesses and empowerment through Agricprenaural activities.
The Governor also indicated that Corps Members posted to the state form part of an important segment of the nation’s drive for quality education and Healthcare needs.
He charged the Corps Members to be disciplined, patriotic and hard working at all times.
In his welcome address, the State Coordinator NYSC Rivers State, Mr. Moses Oleghe informed the governor that Rivers State have become the beautiful bride of Corps Members and the preferred destination for posting for National Service owing to the superlative welfare packages extended to Corps Members by the governor, Sir SiminalayiFubara.
He further stated that the “prevailing peace in the State is a boost to Corps Members confidence and desire to serve in Rivers State.”
Mr. Oleghe used the opportunity to advise the Corps Members to “play fundamental role in strengthening the unity and integration of the country.”
The colorful event saw a total of 2876 Corps Members made up of 1049 males and 1827 females sworn in by the Chief Judge of Rivers State represented by Justice Chinwe Amanda Nsirim-Nwosu. The ceremony was also attended by the Director, South South Area Office II Port Harcourt, Mr. Philip Enaberue and other stakeholders.
