Rivers State: Several missing after attack on Opu Kiri Community

Several days after a deadly attack along the Kula waterways in Akuku Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, by suspected sea pirates which led to the death of three persons, including a chief and policeman, unknown gunmen have invaded Opu kiri settlement in Opu Kula Community of Kula kingdom.

The Opu kula council of Traditional rulers and chiefs, in a Ten point resolution issued at the end of an emergency meeting in Port Harcourt, said the gunmen suspected to be sea pirates invaded the Opu kiri settlement at about 11p.m on Friday night, destroying houses, robbing and allegedly raping some women.

Reading the resolution on behalf of the chiefs, Iboroma Brown, disclosed that some members of the community who fled into nearby swamps and creeks for safety, are still missing more than 24 hours after the attack.

They further sent a save-our-soul (SOS) message to the Federal and State Governments and security agencies to urgently come to their rescue.
