Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Zaki, has vowed to ensure that activities of criminals in the state are eliminated.
This warning was issued at the 6 Division Nigerian Army headquarters port Harcourt, when the representative of the Police Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner State CID, Wami Felix, paraded the remains of the dreaded Mba Joe, aka SK or Mba boy and his three commanders who were gunned down at a hotel in owerri, Imo State.
He said a joint security task force had trailed the cultists to their hideout, following an intelligence report; ” Joe Mba aka SK, a member of the dey gbam cult group, an outlawed cult group in Rivers State had been declared wanted by the state government and had been a thorn in the flesh for all and sundry within and without.
“An operation was carried out, they were trialed from port Harcourt to owerri where they were in a hotel. Security agencies surrounded the hotel, on realising that they were covered , the cultists in a very daring bid to escape, opened fire on the security agents who were already ready for them.
“In the shootout that ensued four of them were gunned down and their AK 47 riffles were recovered. It is victory for law abiding citizens in this country as far as we get cooperation from everybody, we will be able to stem the tide of violent crime in this country.
“For instance some of them have been told to kidnap persons, collect ransom and still kill their victims. A staff or so of the NNPC was equally killed after collecting N11 million ransom.
“This is a victory dance, a day for all persons within that Eleme, Elele and motorists along that axis. We believe that with this singular operation the act of criminality along that axis will definitely reduce to almost zero,” he disclosed .
Recall that the Rivers State Government had placed a N20 million bounty on Mba and his gang, Don Wanny and several others.
Mba and his commanders Teetito Frank( aka obele), Teetito Godwin( aka coachy boy) and Gift Paul, were placed on the wanted list of the Rivers State police command for terrorizing Eleme and its environs.
