Federal government declares Thursday public holiday

The Federal Government, has declared Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th July, 2016 as public holiday.

A statement signed by the permanent secretary Ministry of interior,  Bassey Okon Akpanyung, disclosed the new dates on behalf of the  Honourable Minister of Interior, Lt Gen. (Rtd) Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau.

The statement urged Nigerians to use this period of sober reflections to ensure unity,  harmony and peaceful co-existence, while giving full support to the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari .

The extension of the public holiday,  was sequel to the directive by the President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto, to Muslims to continue the Ramadan fast Yesterday  as a result of the non-sighting of the moon.
