Anti-kidnapping squad of the Nigeria Police at the cultural centre, Calabar, on Friday killed a kidnapper and rescued the female victim unharmed.
The incident which occurred at Okoyong in Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River State, was due to information gathered by the police following the call made by the kidnapper with the victim’s phone.
Africa update gathered that one of the suspects used the victim’s phone to contact family members with a view to arranging for ransom and the number was tracked.
The caller was invited to a spot where he was shot and taken to their hideout at Okoyong.
The other gang members had engaged the police in a gun battle,  on  sighting the Police and the suspect.
They however escaped  with injuries through a bush track, while the victim was rescued, Policemen recovered  some guns, charms and other items.
