The Clerk of the House, Ikeja Local Government Area, Mr. Shamsideen Omotayo, has been kidnapped by gunmen in Imota, Ikorodu, Lagos State.
According to reports, the kidnappers laid in ambush for the clerk on his way to the office on Wednesday morning.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, confirmed the incident to newsmen.
“Details of the abduction is still sketchy. I will get back to you,” he added.
The abduction may have occurred because of the just concluded local government election.
The Lagos police and intelligence agencies are already investigating the matter.
