On Thursday, November 16, a High Court sitting in Port Harcourt presided over by Justice Sika Henry Apirioku, ordered for the remand of the former chairman of Ahoada East local government area Chief Cassidy Ikegbidi, and seventy four others, at the Port Harcourt maximum correctional center over the alleged murder of SP Bako Agbashim.
The defendants were charge with murder, attempted murder, conspiracy, cultism, robbery, kidnapping among others.
When the case was called, counsel to the first and other defendants, urged the court to grant bail to the defendants.
But, the acting O C legal and prosecuting counsel, SP Enyiyepere Sikpi, opposed the bail, noting that the nature of the charges were too grievous for such oral order.
In his ruling, the trial judge, Justice Apirioku ordered that the defendants be remanded at the port Harcourt correctional center and adjourned the case to the 21st of November, 2023 for plea and bail consideration.
Recall that late DPO of Ahoada East Local government area, SP Bako Agbashim was reportedly murdered by a gang of notorious Iceland cultists, led by one Gift David Okpara, aka 2Baba on September 8 2023
