Development of Rivers State and the construction of Trans-Kalabari Road

It is a shame that Rivers State after fifty years of her creation is still a one city State. With the bogus name – TREASURE BASE OF THE NATION; is Rivers State actually or truly living up to this name? What makes Rivers State a Treasure Base of Nigeria? Oh! I see, it’s because of her rich mineral resources.
What about the connectivity of the LGA’s that make up the State, Kalabari is one major region endowed with mineral resources, yet very far from the Capital City of the State. What mind do the Lagosians and the Governors of Lagos State had or is still having that the Riverians and the Governors of Rivers State cannot emulate. Despite being the former capital of Nigeria, the people of Lagos State are building bridges and improving their GDP – Gross Domestic Production while the leadership of Rivers State is busy building some sections of Port Harcourt in cycles, spending and looting billions to themselves that is not benefitting the State in anyway.
What is stopping them from connecting the Kalabari region to the State Capital, is it fear that the Kalabari’s will abandon the State capital or is it that the leaderships of the State have decided to be wicked to the State? The rich potentials in Bakana, Oguru-ama, Tombia, Bukuma, Buguma, the outside Communities in Asalga, Obuama, Isokun, Abonnema, Obonnoma, Kula, Idama and the rest of the outside communities in Akuku-Toru cannot be fully tapped to develop Rivers State without good and efficient road network system. How many flyovers’, bridges, roundabouts and roads do we have in PH? Yet we cannot connect Degema and Abua, Port Harcourt and Bakana, Oguruama, Tombia and Isaka. Have the leadership of the State considered the internal revenue that will come from the Jetties and other viable investments in those areas? Why is Degema, Ahoada and Bori still very underdeveloped. Why is Okirika still not connected to PH through Marine Base and Borokiri. Why can’t the Government of Rivers State connect Obakiri and Iwofe? I speak not as a Kalabari man but a true Rivers man from Kalabari, Omoku and Ikwerre. I speak as the Ngalaba of Rivers State. I am Somina Wokoma – DG, RIVERS PROJECT.
