Cup of tea on election day

By Dan Nnodim, Port Harcourt Telegraph

From the starting revelations coming from the Etche/Omuma federal constituency, especially the war of who to represent the constituency in the Green Chambers, one is quickly reminded of the biblical saying that all things worketh together to them that love God. And there are many Nigerians who still love God.

This is a case of those, the gods want to destroy; firstly, they make them blind, deaf and dumb.

Otherwise, one should adhere to the sermon that those who live in a glass house don’t throw stones.
It is very unfortunate that High Chief Dr. Ambrose Igbokwe Nkemdirim Nwuzi who is calling for the second bid of senator Andrew Uchendu against the wish of Etche people, is wanting to represent Etche/Omuma in the Federal House Of Representatives. His reason is based on zoning.

Chief Nwuzi refused to know that Etche/Omuma has been standing on zoning since this political dispensation. Hon. Chief Georgeford Nwosu of blessed memory did it for two tenures (8years) from Omuma LGA, Hon. Chief Ogbonna Nwuke took it from him based on zoning and was there for a tenure, on wanting to take up the second under the platform of All Progressive Congress, High Chief Nwuzi of the same political Party (APC) decided to have his TEA time party with Hon. Chief Ephraim Nwuzi a chieftain of the people Democratic Party (PDP) on the same day of re-run election thereby sabotaging the efforts of fellow APC members as alleged.

This is turn, ushered High Chief Ambrose Nwuzi’s kinsman High Chief Jerome Eke of the (PDP) from Ndashi in Etche LGA to represent Etche/Omuma at the Federal House. This proves the completion of Etche’s turn. It is now the turn of Omuma people to come up with a credible and sellable candidate to represent the Ethnic Nationality.

Information reaching the Port Harcourt Telegraph is anything to go by, the choice of Hon. Ndubisi Nwankwo has unanimously been penciled down for quality, and effective representation in the federal house of representative for Etche/Omuma constituency.

Since Hon. Nwankwo has been the choice of the people, Etche sons and daughters and non-indigines have agreed to rally round Hon. Nwankwo to making it achievable.

Our other brothers have no option than to work relentless to make the coast clearer for him come 2019. There is no time for TEA taking. The High Chief cannot claim to be more honest. Let’s stop pretending. Whatever our political leaders do, even in the secret, cannot remain concealed forever.

Some people are trying to become modern day tyrants, but we can tell them forthrightly that the age of tyranny in Etche is gone and can never be brought back again. If there is anyone, if at all, who wants Hon. Ndubisi Nwankwo, out of the race should wait for him at the polls and not by resorting to Gestapo tactics.

In fact, the arrow has left the bow, too late to be recalled. Based on all of the above, structural change is therefore seen to be very important as it enabled us identify the right kind of people to fill the political positions identified.

Besides, Hon. Ndubis Nwankwo has now decided to welcome and accept the long standing clarion call by Etche people. Etche/Omuma federal constituency has twenty nine (29) wards, twenty three (23) wards has already identified with the candidature of Hon. Ndubisi Nwankwo to actualize the ambitions, aspirations of the constituents and keeping faith with the zoning formation of Etche Ethnic Nationality.

Any Etche citizen, however highly placed, whose activity causes, facilitates, assists, influences or brings about the shrinking of our highly regarded values and norms of the land is not for us. We want generations yet unborn to be able to identify the scene which will be left behind by us. Not a negative scene but a positive position that will keep Etche forever going forward.
