Rivers border closure: security operatives collect entry fee?

Africa Update has received reports of alleged collection of monies by some security operatives assigned to enforce the border closure between Rivers State and neighboring states.

Sources who do not want their names in print, alleged that people pay as much as N2,000 to gain entry into the state, through the land, while others come in through the sea at night.

This trend according to citizens, is worrisome, considering the grave nature of the coronavirus, which has overwhelmed the entire world.

They called on relevant authorities and the State Government to investigate the actions of these security operatives, which could make mockery of the efforts of the Nyesom Wike led government.
