It was a gory sight as journalists witnessed the exhuming of three decomposing corpses of students of the University of Port Harcourt at Aleto community in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Officers of the tactical unit of the state Anti-kidnapping squad, led the operation into the forest in Aleto community, where the three students, identified as Nelson Nwafor (male), Fortune Obimba (male) and Joy Adoki (female) were exhumed.
Addressing Journalists, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, said three suspects have been arrested in connection to the gruesome murder.
Africa update gathered that the three Students were kidnapped in April 2020 at Choba community in Obio/Akpo Local Government Area of the State and killed at Aleto community in Eleme local Government Area.
One of the suspects, Friday Akpan, who led the police team into the forest, told journalists that a gang member named Bright had reportedly kidnapped the victims because one of them was owing him some money.
He stated that Bright claimed to be a soldier and ordered them to kill the victims, which they did. Though cutting off the head of one of the victims when the gun they tried to kill him with failed to do the job.
Akpan further confessed that he has been involved in two other kidnapping operations and is a member of the Iceland cult group.
