PDP constitutes Presidential Campaign Organization, Tambuwal, Wike, others named

The national working committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has constituted its presidential campaign organisation.

Umar Bature, PDP national organising secretary, announced the development in a document released late Thursday night.

Udom Emmanuel, governor of Akwa Ibom, was named as the chairman of the campaign council; while Aminu Tambuwal, governor of Sokoto, was appointed as the director-general.

Bala Mohammed, governor of Bauchi, was listed as the vice-chairman of the council (north); and Seyi Makinde of Oyo, as vice chairman (south).

All PDP governors are among the members of the presidential campaign council, including Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers state.

Ike Ekweremadu, former senate president, who is standing trial in the UK over alleged organ harvesting, is also a member of the council

Other members of the campaign council include Liyel Imoke, former governor of Cross River, as deputy director-general of operations; Adewale Oladipo as deputy director-general, administration; Raymond Dokpesi as deputy director-general, technical and systems; and Okwesilieze Nwodo, as deputy director-general, research and strategy.

The full list of members of the campaign council can be seen here.

Bature said members of the campaign council will be inaugurated on September 28, in Abuja.

Last week, the national executive committee (NEC) of the PDP, approved the campaign structure for the party and empowered the NWC to “modify and adjust” the structure “when the need arises”.

The development finally put to rest the speculations about the appointment of members to the campaign council.
