New twist in Rivers APC crises

A new twist emerged in the chairmanship tussle of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State, as a major contender for the position, Rt. Hon. Igo Aguma, quit the party. Aguma said in a statement issued by Livingstone Wechie that he could no longer remain a member of the APC, following the Supreme Court verdict on Friday, on who is the authentic chairman of the party.

The fallout of this decision to quit the party and the implication of the ruling of the Apex Court, presided over by Amina Adamu Augie, JSC, is something political analysts are closely monitoring. There are however, speculations that this move might open the floodgates of defection, as Aguma and his supporters might empty into the Peoples Democratic party, which has recently harvested staunch members of the APC.
