A Huqiu District People’s Court in Suzhou City, China, has sentenced a teenager identified as Cai, to a prison term of three years with a four-year probation period for intentional homicide, on Thursday.
Cai, who was 17 at the time she committed the crime, received a suspended sentence after she was found guilty of killing her baby by throwing it out of an eighth-floor window.
According to reports, Cai told the court that she could not remember the name of the nam who got her pregnant, because they had met online and were drunk at the time of the one night stand.
A statement issued by the court, revealed that the mother, gave birth to her baby in a toilet at a rented apartment in August 2015.
“When Cai, who had no inkling that she was pregnant, heard her newborn’s first cries, she panicked and threw her out of the bathroom window to avoid any unwanted attention from her neighbours,” the statement added.
