The President’s wife Aisha Buhari, and the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, yesterday visited eight-month-old baby, Khadijah Bashir, at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano State, who was raped by her mother’s friend in Kano State.
The infant, was allegedly raped by 30-year-old Muktakar Muhammad, with the assistance of his wife, who held the girl’s legs apart, on the instruction of a native doctor, who had purportedly told them that they could only have children, if the man could have sex with a six-month-old baby.
Mrs. Buhari, described rape as man’s inhumanity to man.
The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, also visited the hospital earlier, and urged security agencies and the state government to ensure that the culprits were brought to book.
He consoled the parents and assured them of financial assistance.
The Kano State Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, in a statement said, “We are deeply saddened by a story of a six – month old baby girl, allegedly raped by a close confidant in Kano.
“The government of Kano says it will make whoever is found guilty the first to pay the supreme price of life imprisonment.
“Already, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has directed the state Ministry of Justice to handle the matter properly by ensuring that it is delivered to the letter.
“Whoever is involved in this sordid sexual crime will be prosecuted under the relevant provision contained in the Kano State Penal Code Amendment Law , referred to as the ‘Principal Law’ as amended under section 283.”
