NAPPMED says Patent medicine is complimentary, effective

The National Association of Patent and Proprietary Medicine Dealers (NAPPMED), Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, (PHALGA) in Rivers State has called on stakeholders in the health sector and security agencies to collaborate with a view to eliminate fake, expired and adulterated drugs from the state.

The NAPPMED Chairman PHALGA chapter,  Bar. Basil Ononiwu gave the charge,  while briefing pressmen ahead of a proposed seminar scheduled to hold May 9, 2017 in Port Harcourt .

He said the role and importance of NAPPMED can not be ignored if the state government’s health policies were to be achieved , as the health needs of rural dwellers are taken care of by members of the association.

Speaking further,  he reiterated that activities of patent medicine vendors are complimentary to those of pharmacists and other medical practitioners, considering the confidence most citizens have in the services of NAPPMED.

He urged the state government to integrate the members of the association in the roll back malaria project as well as various immunization exercises,  stating that a a legally registered association with membership in over 700 local govwenment areas in the country,  such partnership will yield optimal result.
