…as Senate expels Onyewuenyi Chiamaka Nora over damaging content creation
Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has been ranked seventh in staff Google scholar Profile Submission( by institutions) of the 2026 Ranking of Universities.
The Vice-Chancellor of IAUE, Professor Okechuku Onuchuku, who announced this during the Senate meeting held on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at the Postgraduate Hall, lauded all academic staff whose articles and publications were cited on Google Scholar, resulting in the progress report on Google Scholar Profiles. He thanked staff for giving the University the needed visibility and urged them to sustain the tempo.
Professor Onuchuku also expressed appreciation to the Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, for approving the implemention of the ASUU agreement which has culminated in the new salary structure received by elated staff.
The Vice-Chancellor thanked the IAUE ASUU Chairman Professor Obinna Prince Ikechi for putting machinery in place for the implementation and the Bursary staff who worked day and night to ensure its fruition.
In another development, the National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved five new programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels for the University. They are Special Needs Education, Human Kinetics Sports Management, Environmental Management and Toxicology, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and Cyber Security.
Recall that the National Universities Commission (NUC) had, on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, visited the University to ascertain the readiness of the five programmes recently introduced by the University. The Chairman of Senate and Vice-Chancellor hinted that plans are underway to appoint and announce qualified academic staff who will head these new departments.
Meanwhile, Senate has expelled Miss Onyewuenyi Chiamaka Nora with Matriculation Number U/2022/19900, a final-year student of the Department of English and Literary Studies, over damaging content creation. The expulsion is to serve as a deterrent to others who may want to do the same.
Recall that the said student had, in an interview that went viral, claimed that her project topic was “Citizenship” when there is no such topic as Citizenship in the Department. She also claimed that her supervisor was the one who wrote the project for her.
Graduating results for the 2024/2025 academic session from IAUE Faculties and those from affiliate institutions like Peaceland University, Enugu and College of Education Warri, as presented by the Postgraduate School by Professor Helen Okujagu, were approved by Senate.
Senate also approved the 2026/2027 academic calendar as presented by the Director of the Academic Planning Unit, Professor Joseph Kinanee. Monday, November 9, 2026, is the resumption date for returning students, while registration for Year One students is ongoing and will continue fully by Monday, November 16.
