Prof Onuchuku Receives NES Fellowship Confirmation at 67th Annual Conference on Africa’s Technology Potential

The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Professor Okechuku Onuchuku, has received confirmation of his Fellowship of the Nigerian Economic Society (NES) at the Society’s 67th Annual Conference in Abuja.

The recognition was conferred during the four-day conference, which is being held from 7 to 10 September 2026 at the NAF Conference Centre and Suites, Abuja.

The conference is themed “Unlocking Africa’s Technology Potential: Sustainability and Economic Transformation – Emerging Issues and Policy Options.”

It has brought together policymakers, academics, economists, industry leaders and development practitioners to examine how emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data and fintech, can drive inclusive and sustainable economic transformation across Africa.

Discussions at the conference are centred on the opportunities and challenges associated with Africa’s rapidly evolving technological landscape, as well as the policies and institutional frameworks required to harness innovation for economic growth, productivity, job creation and improved living standards.

For Professor Onuchuku, the confirmation of his NES Fellowship at the prestigious gathering represents a significant professional milestone and further recognition of his standing within the economics and academic communities.

The Fellowship places him among distinguished professionals recognised by the Nigerian Economic Society for their contribution to the economics profession and its advancement in Nigeria.
