The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released an official list of House of Representatives aspirants who failed to clear the party’s mandatory screening exercise, effectively barring them from participating in the internal primaries for the 2027 General Elections.
In a statement released on Saturday, 16th May 2026, by the National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, CON, the party confirmed that the vetting process was vital to determining eligibility across various federal constituencies.
“The screening exercise was conducted by the Party’s Screening Committees in line with established procedures and guidelines,” the statement read. The APC, however, did not provide detailed explanations for the “not cleared” status of the affected politicians.

Mixed Fortunes and Logistics Disruptions Across States
As the primary elections got underway across the federation, the exercise yielded contrasting outcomes, marked by swift victories in some regions and acute administrative failures in others.
Victory for Mani in Katsina
In Katsina State, Jamila Mani, the Special Assistant on Girl Child Education and Development to Governor Dikko Radda, secured a decisive victory. She emerged as the winner of the APC primary for the Mani/Bindawa Federal Constituency, bolstering the representation of female aspirants in the ruling party’s legislative line-up.
Disarray and Delays in Adamawa
Conversely, the democratic process encountered severe bottlenecks in Adamawa State. The direct primary elections for the House of Representatives were disrupted across multiple wards due to the complete absence of electoral officials.
In key areas such as Girei, Yola North, and Yola South, hundreds of party faithful queued for hours without any formal communication from the leadership regarding the commencement of the ballot. The breakdown in logistics sparked frustration among members, raising questions about the management of the exercise in the state.
The legislative primaries form a crucial cornerstone of the ruling party’s strategy to consolidate its legislative majority ahead of the 2027 general elections. The National Working Committee is expected to address the logistical hitches and handle petitions arising from the screening exclusions in the coming days.
