Former Chairman Rivers State Civil Service Commission Chief Oris Onyiri Celebrates 70th Birthday

The drums were rolled out today, September 20, to celebrate the former Chairman of Rivers State Civil Service Commission, Chief Oris Uchendu Joel Onyiri, Esq, JP, DSSRS, on the occasion of his 70th birthday.

Traditional Rulers, Captains of Industry, Academicians and Top politicians including the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Her Excellency, Professor Ngozi Nma Odu, DSSRS, were at his Port Harcourt residence to share in the colourful event.

Speaking to newsmen at the event, Prof Odu eulogized Chief Oris for his passion for the development of Egi-Land, describing him a leader worthy of emulation.”

Special musical renditions were made by members of the Jesus Christ for later day Saints, while Akas Baba thrilled guests with rib cracking jokes.

Two books authored by the celebrant were launched by close associates, as part of activities lined up for the day.

The event was a combination of Thanksgiving to God and funfest, which is a reflection of the celebrant, who has held various positions including that of being the State Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. A position that earned him the nickname “Kofi Annan”.
