The natural ruler of Akoh Kingdom in Ahoada East Local Government Area, “His Majesty, Eze Cassidy Ikegbidi Eze Igbu Akoh II, is hereby suspended indefinitely for acts of complicity in ceding control of his territory to the notorious David Gift and his gang to freely operate and carry out their criminal activities,” a statement signed by the Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has stated.
Africa Update reports that the Monarch’s suspension is coming on the heels of criminal activities carried out by notorious gangsters suspected to be members of the Iceland cult group.
In a statement signed on Saturday September 9, the Governor condemned the increasing rates of criminal activities in the Local Government that has led to the killing of the Divisional Police Officer in the area, SP Bako Angbashim.
He said credible intelligence from security agencies had traced the entire incident to one Gift David Okpara Okpolowu (a.k.a. 2-Baba) and his criminal gang, who have established camps in the locality and are responsible for the resurgence of violent crimes, including kidnapping and terrorism in the area.
He warned that “as a responsible Government, we cannot fold our arms and allow criminals and crimes to rear their ugly heads and thrive in any part of our State.”
Fubara noted that the resolve to suspend the Traditional Ruler was made in view of the deteriorating security situation in the area.
A bounty of one hundred million (N100,000,000.00) naira was also placed on Gift David Okpara Okpolowu (a.k.a. 2-Baba) and his gang members.
