The pioneer Newspaper Publishers Association in Rivers State has elected the Publisher of Africa Update Gloria Boma Harry, as Chairman. Harry was elected yesterday, during the congress of Independent Newspaper Publishers Association, RIVPA.
The notice of her emergence and the removal of Mike Iwezor, the embattled Chairman of the Association, was contained in a press statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of RiVPA, Warisenibo Benson Finebone.
The statement reads: The Independent Newspaper Publishers Association of Rivers State (RIVPA) has elected Gloria Harry, the Publisher of Africa Update Newspaper, as the new Chairman of the association, in accordance with the RIVPA Constitution, after deliberation and ratification by Congress of the recommendations of the Ethics and Disciplinary Committee which recommended the removal of Mr Mike Iwezor as Chairman of RIVPA following his inability to defend allegations levelled against him.
Congress in ratifying the removal of Mr. Iwezor as Chairman of RIVPA, also suspended Mr Mike Iwezor indefinitely, subject to his reapplication to become a member of RIVPA following violations of the RIVPA Constitution.
The decision was taken at a Congress meeting of RIVPA held on Sunday, 29th January, 2023.
Consequently, Mr. Mike Iwezor, is NO LONGER THE CHAIRMAN OF RIVPA, AND HE HAS ALSO BEEN SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY.
Mr Mike Iwezor is therefore directed to hand over all documents and properties of RIVPA, in his possession to the newly elected chairman of the association within 7 working days from the date of this announcement.
