Governor Wike eyes a woman

With the conclusion of party primaries by the various political parties in Nigeria, and the selection of vice presidential candidates to compliment the presidential candidates, the race for who becomes the number two citizen in the various states have begun, particularly for the 28 states where the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, intends to participate in the forthcoming Governorship Elections in 2023.

Chats with some top politicians in Rivers State, have revealed that the Governor of the State, Chief Nyesom Wike, might have his eyes on some female politicians who he intends to unveil to the leadership of the party in the State as nominees for the Deputy Governorship position.

Africa Update further gathered from sources that the female politicians, one of whom recently served as a member of the State Executive Council, may have an upper hand considering her portfolio and disposition.

While nothing has been formally said about his intentions, the inauguration of the Deputy Governorship screening Committee of the party, and the announcement by the National Working Committee, NWC, that screening of deputy Governorship Candidates will hold on Wednesday, there is the likelihood that Rivers people will behold the next female Governorship candidate in a few hours.

If this eventually happens as they have hinted, a new record will be set in the political history of the Country, that will make Rivers State the only state to have female deputy Governors in two consecutive Administrations.
