APC supporters storm INEC office, threaten to stall election

Hundreds of the All Progressives Congress members in Rivers State, today took over the main gate of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Port Harcourt in protest if the non-inclusion of their candidates in the ballot Saturday, March 2nd 2019 elections.

The protesters threatened that election would not hold in Rivers if INEC refuses to allow their candidates to be part of the exercise.

The protest was led by APC legislative aspirants  that participated in the primaries conducted by the Ojukaye Flag-Amachree APC faction in Rivers State.

Speaking on behalf of the aspirants, the APC aspirant for Rivers South-East senatorial district, Amb. Orji Ngofa asked INEC to obey the stay of execution granted the APC by the court of appeal.

Amb. Orji Ngofa accused INEC of working against the All Progressives Congress in the state.

Police had earlier blocked the road leading to the state INEC office located along the Port Harcourt-Aba Expressway, but the protesters made their way peacefully to the commission’s gate.
