Some workers of The Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) who had gone to the National Industrial Court to demand payment of the 3 years salaries from the Rivers State Government will now have to wait till November 13th for further mention of the case. The Rivers state sustainable development agency workers are asking government to pay 3 years of their salaries and allowances.
Counsel to RSSDA, Isa Saido, said the absence of representatives of the Rivers State Government in court was the reason why the matter was adjourned till the 13th of November.
The counsel in his words said: “The matter came up for mention for the first time and consequently adjourned to the 13th day November, 2018 for further mention due to the absence of the respondents and their counsel. The court in the interest of justice and fair hearing adjourned the matter for further mention to enable them participate in the procedure. The applicants are employees of Rivers State government and Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency who have not been paid salary since 2015 till date and that is why we are in court.”
In a similar development, the Federal Public Complaints Commission said it has also received a petition from some parents of Rivers State students studying abroad, under the RSSDA scholarship scheme. The Federal commissioner, Public Complaints Commission, Marshall Israel told newsmen that the parents are accusing the Rivers State government of abandoning their kids and wards overseas. He said the commission will intervene swiftly on the matter and find out why the Rivers State government is not meeting it’s obligation to the students on foreign scholarship.
