The Police Public Relations Officer for Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Aliyu Usman,  has confirmed the violent attack of members of a branch of the  Assemblies of God Church in Saminaka, Lere Local Government Area, Kaduna State, by hoodlums allegedly loyal to a faction, involved in the leadership tussle of the church. Â
Africa update gathered that the leadership tussle over the stool of the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church , between Professor Paul Emeka and Dr. Chidi, exploded into violence on Sunday.
Our source disclosed that hoodlums purportedly armed with knives, clubs and other weapons invaded the church premises at about 8a.m., when the church service was about to commence and injured about 20 members and burnt down  houses belonging to two resident pastors.
The situation was however brought under control at 2 p.m. by officers the Kaduna State Police Command.
It could be recalled that on September 15, 2015, Governor Nasir el-Rufai had ordered the closure of the church including the Theological Seminary of Northern Nigeria, Saminaka, Shalom Comprehensive College, AGC Evangelist Hospital, Saminaka, saying it was to avoid a possible breakdown of law and order.
