The team was led by two among the four suspects, to a forest where they buried their victim, who was the President of Eastern Zone of Investment Cooperative Society Limited, in a shallow grave in Abia state.
Iheanacho according to reports, was shot by his abductors and taken to an uncompleted building in a community in Ndoki, Oyigbo Local government of Rivers state where he died of bullet wounds.
Commander of the IGP Intelligent Response Team, Abba Kyari who is a Deputy Commissioner of Police told newsmen that Samuel Ikechukwu Alexander, popularly called Pillar, Chima Mark, Stephen Iniobong and Teddy Ifeanyi had collected ransom in dollars from their victim before killing him.
DCP Abba Kyari said the four-man criminal gang who hail from Southern states of Abia, Imo, Akwa Ibom and Rivers State had also abducted two female victims, alongside John Iheanacho, who were raped an made tobpay 1.5million naira each before their release.
The Paramount ruler of Omuoshi in Ndoki community in Oyigbo, Eze Friday Oscar, expressed shock at the criminal activity and assured the police of maximum cooperation to uncover circumstances that led to the death of Iheanacho.
The remains of Iheanacho has been deposited in the mortuary.
