Breaking News: APC Chairman resigns, becomes Commissioner

The Kano State House of Assembly on Thursday approved the nomination of Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, the Ganduje-led factional chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as a commissioner.

Abdullahi Abbas, wrapped in the feud between Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and deputy Hafizu Abubakar, tendered his resignation letter on Thursday.

His name was forwarded to the House of Assembly by the state Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The letter was read on the floor of the House by the speaker Abdullahi Yusuf Ata.

Following the motion moved by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Alhaji Hamisu Chidari urging the lawmakers to consider the nominee given his numerous contributions to the development of the state as the APC chairman, they unanimously approved his appointment.

He was the Commissioner for Environment during the administration of Engineer Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso.

Abubakar, a Professor of Food and Nutritional Biochemistry at the Bayero University, had earlier accused the Kano chapter of the APC of sidelining him in scheme of things.
