A former Corps Marshall of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Osita Chidoka, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and will on Wednesday officially register with the United Progressive Party, (UPP) at his hometown, Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
A statement by Bright Nebedum, Director General of his campaign organisation, on Sunday said Chidoka will also unveil his “plans and vision towards redirecting the fortunes of Anambra state and restoring its lost political and economic glory”.
It said Chidoka, who is joining the race for the governorship election in November 2017 , also served as a Minister of Aviation under the Goodluck Jonathan administration, and has “never failed in any assignment he had undertaken in the past”.
Chidoka, who recently opened up on power play during the President Umaru Yar’ Adua government, served as FRSC boss at the age of 36, the youngest ever to occupy the seat in 2007.
He was later appointed a Minister of Aviation in 2014 by President Goodluck Jonathan.
He also served in several capacities under the federal executive while working closely with various cabinet ministers between 1997 and 2003.
“Also, he served as the Secretary, National Committee for the visit of Pope John Paul II to Nigeria in 1998, Assistant Secretary, 1999 Handover Committee, Federal Republic of Nigeria and member committee on Review of Abuja Master Plan among others,” the statement added.
