Globacom launches massive Nationwide network overhaul for enhanced customer experience

Globacom, a leading digital solutions provider, has embarked on an extensive nationwide network upgrade, reinforcing its commitment to delivering superior service to its vast customer base. This strategic initiative, launched last year and currently in its active phase, involves a comprehensive rollout of new base transceiver stations and the modernization of existing infrastructure, all designed to elevate data speeds and enhance the overall user experience.

In response to recent adjustments in telecom tariffs, Globacom reiterated its dedication to building a world-class telecommunications infrastructure while maintaining affordable rates for both voice and data services. The company’s network enhancement encompasses a holistic upgrade, spanning core, access, transmission, IP, fiber, metro access, and backbone networks, alongside the expansion of essential passive equipment.

Over the past few months, Globacom has successfully deployed hundreds of new base transceiver stations across key regions, including Lagos, Ogun, Nasarawa, Rivers, Edo, Delta, Cross River, Kaduna, Kano, and Abuja. This expansion aims to bolster network capacity, provide increased resources for subscribers, and alleviate congestion in high-traffic areas.

Furthermore, Globacom has injected hundreds of LTE 2600 sites into strategic markets in Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Kwara, and select tertiary institutions in Rivers, Edo, Abuja, Enugu, and Anambra States. This initiative is designed to significantly improve high-speed data access and eliminate network congestion.

In alignment with the Nigerian government’s broadband penetration goals, Globacom has expanded data network capacity and implemented enhancements across 1,700 sites, particularly in Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Osun, Ekiti, Edo, Delta, Anambra, Enugu, Abia, Ebonyi, Bayelsa, Benue, Nasarawa, Kaduna, and Plateau States. This strategic move is expected to significantly enhance customer satisfaction in data throughput and overall network performance.

To further augment coverage and meet growing capacity demands, Globacom is deploying hundreds of new 2G, 3G, and 4G base stations nationwide. To support these substantial expansion projects and guarantee seamless ultra-high-speed access, the Glo1 submarine cable capacity has been upgraded, ensuring optimal utilization and a consistent, high-quality network experience.

Globacom has also commenced a large-scale initiative to modernize its power and fiber infrastructure, deploying thousands of new generators and replacing aging fiber routes while laying new fiber optic cables. This comprehensive upgrade underscores Globacom’s unwavering commitment to providing a reliable and cutting-edge network for its millions of subscribers.
