The National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) zone B comprising South South, South East States has warned that it will resist moves by the management of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) to reopen the institution without resolving issues that led to it closure on April 11, 2016.
Coordinator of NANS Zone B, Pedro Obi said over 15 million students will resume with UNIPORT on Monday June 20, 2016 if the policies of ” no school fees, no exam” and the signing of indemnity forms of the university are not scrapped.
He warned that students would no longer tolerate alleged victimization and extortion and called on the governing council of the institution to make public findings on the incident that led to its closure and the death of a final year student during the bloody riot.
