The Rivers State Police Command has apprehended a nine-man criminal gang terrorising the state.
Briefing newsmen at the Police headquarters in Port Harcourt, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Zaki, said men of the Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad, F-SARS, acting on credible intelligence report, had chased two suspected criminals to their hide out in Ada George axis of the state, where they were arrested with military uniforms, fake identify cards and police patrol vehicles.
Parading the suspects, he disclosed that 6 suspects specialized in disguising as police officers and fooled the public wearing black jeans, black T/shirts, branded police vests and drove around with police vans.
Zaki, further stated that 13 vehicles were recovered from the bandits and urged members of the public whose vehicles were stolen, to come with relevant documents to enable them retrieve such vehicles.
He listed some of the vehicles with the following information; unregistered Sienna bus, one Toyota RAV 4 Jeep, with registration number AA41PHC, One Toyota Forerunner Jeep with registration number GUE617LD, one Toyota Avensis with registration number KWE39AU, one Toyota Camry with registration number AGN596NK, one Toyota Corolla with registration number FST37DH (Lagos number) and several other vehicles.
Other items recovered from the gang include 5 pump action guns, 5 locally made pistols, 25 rounds of live ammunition and I magazine.
