Super Eagles midfielder John Ogu is confident that the super eagles will get it right and emerge victorious when they face the Seychelles pirates on the 8th of September in the city of Victoria, after losing 2:0 to South Africa in their first game of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at Uyo, last June.
He said, “We had the game under control and we stayed true to our principles, but unfortunately we lost. our opponents were strong, especially on the counter but we will get it right in Victoria. I think we have the quality to get a win from the game in Victoria. We were just unlucky in the first game against South Africa because we had some more favorable chances to score”.
The game between the Eagles of Nigeria and Seychelles pirates is crucial to both teams as they both lost their opening games of the AFCON qualifiers and are sitting at 3rd and 4th with no points in their group, respectively.
The Eagles who last won the AFCON in 2013 and have 3 AFCON titles to their name, failed to qualify for the last two editions of the competition and will be looking to earn a spot for the 2019 tournament slated to take place in Cameroon.
