Osogbo, Osun State—The Osun State Government delivered a striking announcement on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, confirming the appointment of celebrated Nigerian music sensation, David Adeleke, widely known by his stage moniker, Davido, as the inaugural Chairman of the Osun State Sports Trust Fund.
This pivotal appointment forms part of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s ambitious strategy to wholly reposition and revitalise the state’s sports sector. “The ongoing rehabilitation of the Osogbo Township Stadium to meet Olympic standards will be completed in the shortest possible time,” stated Mr. Adewusi. “We are also finalising comprehensive plans to establish the Osun State Sports Commission, which will serve as the central body for sports development and policy implementation.”
The Deputy Governor further elaborated on the crucial function of the newly inaugurated Sports Trust Fund, explaining that, under Davido’s chairmanship, it is expected to vigorously attract investment and support from sports enthusiasts and philanthropists both within and outside the state.
