‘Wike’s time has expired, we are just waiting for the burial ceremony’ – Dr. Sokonte Davies

“Yesterday (May 11, 2018), Wike and his group of PDP and some of their sympathizers in APC, very few, tried to stop this congress, but they couldn’t.

‘And we can understand why Wike would want to stop the congress. It is because his time is over. His time has expired. Wike’s time has expired, we are just waiting for the burial ceremony’.

This was the emphatic statement by the leader of APC Degema Local Government Area and Executive Director, Marine Operations, Dr. Sokonte Davies, at APC LGA congress yesterday.

Davies said no amount of intimidation will prevent APC from defeating the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, during the general elections.

‘Don’t be afraid, nobody can intimidate you. Nobody in this LGA, I stand to say that has this number of officers. Nobody!

‘And nobody can command this number of officers. You are here as officers elected at your various wards. You are here as agents because you believe in the leadership of the party of the former Governor of Rivers State, the present Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi,.

He reiterated that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has met his Waterloo, that is why he is allegedly trying desperately to explore violence in a bid to remain in office.

‘For Governor on March 2 next year, I can assure you by God’s grace, after 2nd march of next year the election result announcement by 4th or 5th of March, Wike will not stay in Rivers State.

‘His shadows will pursue him. He has misgoverned and he knows that he can only take the power by the power of gunshot’.

He expressed gratitude to God for making the congress a reality despite efforts to scuttle the process, ‘He thinks that this is 2015. I don’t blame him. He is suffering from selective amnesia. So, when we finish the election, the leadership we are going to elect here will lead us to uproot Wike from Rivers State.

‘From today his sleeplessness which he already has will increase because we shall not let, we shall not allow’.

27 Local Government Officers led by Ibim Duke, were elected by 561 delegates under the supervision of the electoral officers comprising Emeji Obinuchi – Chairman, Nwaneri Uchechukwu- secretary and Worgu I. Napoleon- member.

The Duke led LGA exco would serve a 4 year tenure.
